The
Learning Federation: A Nationwide Initiative to Encourage Development
of Interactive and Interoperable Learning Objects in the Schools Sector
An
Interview with Stuart Tait
Government
leadership in creating innovative learning environments, especially
when it involves engagement with private industry, varies greatly
around the world. One of the most impressive efforts we have come
across is the Learning Federation (TLF) in Australia. TLF is a
collaboration that spans Australia and involves international
partnerships as well. The unique goals of the TLF are impressive and
contain several key success factors that other countries might well pay
attention to. Among these success factors, in our opinion, were
focusing on underserved areas in the curricula, utilizing a
constructivist learning paradigm, leveraging standards for
interoperability, setting a key objective of developing a sustainable
industry for multimedia learning materials, and, while supporting the
use of learning management systems, not being dependent upon them. The
following is our detailed interview with Stuart Tait, Director Market
Relations, of The Learning Federation.
